Casa Blanca Fishing

The reef itself supplies food and shelter to a huge variety of baitfish and small crustaceans which in turn attract larger predators. The reef also protects the shore-side fishery from full ocean swells. The coral heads absorb the brunt of the waves allowing the flats to remain calm even if the reef is being pounded by a storm swell.

There is a WIDE VARIETY of underrated, under fished species in Ascension Bay which will match the skill of the most sophisticated anglers; Barracuda are at the top of the list. They are perhaps the most exciting fish on the flats. They will take a fly or lure; they are big and they fight like hell. In addition to Cuda you will also find Jacks, Shark and Snapper. You should definitely consider pursuing a few of these other exciting species.

Fishing report January 23rd - 30th

This was another windy week. Conditions where hard for casting and traveling in Ascension Bay was very tuff. Although everyone caught fish this week.

Nick and his father Albert did very well. Albert and Nick caught lots of bones with Carlos. Carlos took them to Santa Rosa Lagoon a couple of times. Albert caught and landed his first tarpon and snook there. Nick also did well hooking into various tarpon and landing a couple in the back country.

Dennis and Dave fished all week together. They had the time of their life fishing with Jose. Landed lots of bones and both caught a Tarpon. Dennis downed his first scorpion here in Casa Blanca. That would mean he landed his first permit. This was their first Saltwater fishing trip. They had a hoot.

Dudly and Sue fished with Fernando. Sue caught some Bones, and Dudly did to. He had his chances at permit, but luck just was not on his side. They want to come back to Playa Blanca in May and have a re match with permit and tarpon.
